Suitcases and coffee breaks

I feel Like i haven't written a blog in months!!! Let me just start by saying it has been one crazy world wind of a week!! I have attended two shows and have eaten lots of carnival food most of the things where not on the organic diet i usually eat lol. Needless to say i had a pretty wonderful week i have made memories to last a life time and friends to last just as long. I took a ton of pictures and I'm glad i did because this was the last time i will step on those fair grounds as an exhibitor :( I showed my last steer in Dallas this week and it was defiantly bitter sweet. Nelson my steer stood 3rd place and i couldn't have been more proud of him but it was sad to see him go at the auction on Friday. Anyways on a happier note here are a few pictures from the show.

I even got to take some pictures of Hannah from Simply, Me

I love taking pictures of the small things most people don't notice.

Thanks Darin for being the hat model lol

Congrats to a great friend on showing the Grand Champion Steer at Dallas..

I hope everyone had a wonderful week as well. Congrats to everyone who showed at Dallas and Waco

Here's to Steer's and HOG BOYS!!

As September comes to a close and October begins the livestock world starts to run at full speed, for most of you who know this understand how busy we all get this time of year. This has been one crazy week our State Fair started about a week ago and the steers move in on Monday. This will be my last year to exhibit an animal in the Jr. Show. As my senior year is just beginning i think of all the exciting things to come. Ill keep you posted on how the fair goes but now on to something else. This weekend was the hog boys big pig sale and as i wasn't able to attend because of prep for the State Fair. The sale went very well and all of the lots sold good as an average they couldn't have ask for it to be any better.

The auction was online this year and a first for them i was very happy it was so i could watch online since attending wasn't an option. It was really neat to see the barn all set up for the sale because when i usually see it there's jet skis and lawn mowers in it instead of an auction block lol. I was also very proud to know that was my boyfriend's sale and that some how a few hundreds of miles away i was there too.
I cant wait to see everyone at the fair this week and exhibit my last steer there i have a feeling there may be a few tears but in some way good things all have to come to an end. I hope you all are having a great weekend.

Peace Love and Livestock

Fall..

It is almost hard to believe that fall is almost here when it is still 98 degrees here in my big Texas town . But none the less i have still been turning my a/c down to colder temps and pretending its cold outside. Just a few things that help me remember that it truly is fall are these few things....

Pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks are something i love dearly and I've waited all year for them.

As you know i love to bake and since most everything I'm writing about today is food lol

Pumpkin Bread and Carmel ice cream would have to be a must :)

Last but not least we cant forget Halloween!!

What reminds you all of Fall???

Sweet Cinnamon Rolls

As many of you have figured out i love to bake but i have been on a mission to find the best cinnamon roll recipe that was fluffy yet sweet but not too sweet and i think i have finally found one. I hope you all enjoy baking them as much as i did.

For the Dough:

1 Cup of Milk
1 Tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
1/4 Cup of Sugar
1 Teaspoon of Salt
1/2 Cup of Butter melted
3 1/4 Cup of Flour, sifted

For The Sweet Cinnamon Filling:

1/2 Cup of Slightly Softened Butter
1 1/4 Cups of Light Brown Sugar
2 Tablespoons of Granulated Sugar
2 Tablespoons of Ground cinnamon

For The Frosting:

6 Ounces of Cream Cheese
1 1/2 Cup of Confectioners Sugar
3 Tablespoons of Milk
1 Teaspoon of Vanilla

To make the dough, pour your milk into a saucepan over medium heat for 3 minutes, or until lukewarm. Transfer the milk to the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Add the yeast and a pinch of sugar and let sit for 5 minutes, until the yeast is dissolve. Add the remaining sugar, and salt, and the melted butter stir in the flour. Then turn your mixer on low until the dough forms. Then put your dough into a slightly oiled bowl and cover to rise for about 1 hour. Next you can start making the filling , place the butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl then stir until smooth. To make the frosting put the cream cheese in a bowl make sure it has had time to soften a bit and mix with a mixer until creamy then all the confectioners sugar, milk, and vanilla mix until smooth.
Preheat your oven to 350'F and lightly butter a cookie sheet.
Roll out your dough on a floured surface until its about 1/4 inch thick then spread your filling over the dough and roll the dough up like a log. Now cut the dough into 12 pieces about 1 1/2 inches wide and transfer each one onto your cookie sheet then let the cinnamon rolls rise for about 20 Min's and bake for 15 Min's. Spread the icing on top eat and enjoy :)
